Rui Calçada Bastos (b. 1971) is a visual artist living and working in Lisbon, Portugal. His work focuses on urban landscapes, objects, shapes, and situations that would perhaps be overlooked at first glance. Bastos resorts to photography, video, sculpture, and drawing, having built a diverse practice in which absence, displacement, communica- tion, and self-knowledge are key elements. His latest exhibition, I Can’t See You But I Know You’re Here (2020) took place at Galeria Bruno Múrias, in Lisbon.
